Obituary
God took Dorothy E. "Dottie" Sawyer home on Monday, August 01, 2005 after a long battle with cancer.
Dottie was born on September 23, 1946 in Portsmouth, NH; the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy Stewart Oulton. She was raised in Bartlett, NH, and later moved to Maine.
Dottie was a caring and compassionate woman. She was a long time pet groomer and often took in stray and sick animals. Her kindness toward others, and infectious smile brought joy to all who knew her.
As a member of the Pleasant Street Free Baptist Church Dottie sang in the choir, served on the board of trustees, and reached out to many doing missionary work.
Surviving is her mother Dorothy Oulton of Manchester, NH, her husband of 29 years, Kenneth Sawyer of Springvale, ME, a son Richard Lawrence and his wife Jennifer of Sanford; two daughters, Diane Frechette and her husband Timothy of Biddeford, Wendi Belanger and her husband Brian of Biddeford, five grandchildren, Tori, Hunter, Anthony, Patrick, Shane, and a sister Edith Stanek of Euclid, OH.
A period of visitation for Dottie will be held on Wednesday August 3rd from 10 to 11 AM at the Pleasant Street Free Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Dennis Reeves officiating.
The family wishes to thank the staff of S.M.M.C, the Gibson Pavilion, Dr. Ebrahim and the Maine Center for Cancer for their care and compassion through this difficult period.
In lieu of flowers Dottie's family request's that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Main St. Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
Services have been arranged through the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home of Springvale, ME.
