DEWAR, John Robert - 79, Marshy Hope, Pictou Co., passed away peacefully in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish, Tuesday, November 16, 2004. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Chester and Mary (Foote) Dewar. He was a resident of Marshy Hope his entire life and was an adherent of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Marshy Hope. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Arras Branch 59 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Antigonish. Bob was a school bus driver and an auto mechanic most of his working years, retiring from the former East Pictou Rural High School, Sutherland's River. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, the former Mildred MacLean; children, Johnnie, Jim (Linda), Donnie (Janet), Tommy, Eric (Mandy), all of Marshy Hope; Theresa, New Glasgow; Betty (Bob), Linacy; Peggy, Stellarton; Alex (Michelle), Edmonton, Alta.; 12 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; brothers, Ernest, Marshy Hope; Bill, Herring Cove; sisters, Kaye MacDonald, James River; Christine MacLean, Sutherland's River; Margaret (Jim) Bowie, Spryfield. He was predeceased by sisters, Gladys Dewar, Helen MacGregor; brothers, Roy, Rev. Edgar and George. His remains will rest in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow from 3:15 - 5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today from where funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Lorne MacLeod and Rev. Dr. Ken MacLeod officiating. Burial in Glen Bard Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to Glen Bard Cemetery.
