For Them.
THEY ARE TRUSTWORTHY.
G. J. Strang, the Republican candidate for representative, was born Feb. 22, 1845 on Prince Edwards Island. When he was a baby, the family moved to Kane county, Ills.; four years later to Fayette county, Iowa, and while he was still a boy, to Rice county, Minn. He was but 18 years old when he enlisted in company A, Minn. Fifth infantry, of which ex-Governor Hubbard was captain and the present Arch-bishop, Ireland, was chaplain. He went at once to the front with the army of the Tennessee and on his discharge papers is written the names of the battles he took part in. At the close of the war, in May,1866 he settled on his present farm in Hudson, before it was surveyed, and has lived on it and farmed it ever since, having no other source of income. In 1868 he married Miss Sarah G. Burgan, of Hudson, and they have four sons and two daughters, and four of the six have taught school in this county. Mr. Strang was an active member of the old alliance until it became a political party and has always advocated the farmers’ interests. Having lived in the state for 40 years and being an old soldier, he knows personally very many of the leading men of the state. He is by no means a poor speaker, is alert and quick witted, is a hard worker and has those “get there” qualities which will make him a useful member of the legislature. He should have the vote of every Republican in Douglas county, and he will get the votes of very many Democrats and Populists.

MARRIED.
At Alexandria, Dec. 25th, by L. G. Sims, Esq., JOSIAH MARTIN to MISS SARAH C. BARTLETT, all of Douglas County.
On the 22d inst., at the residence of the bride’s father, in Maple Township, by Rev. C. F. Kingsland, GEO. J. STRANG to MISS SARAH G. BURGAN.
Jesse is a good boy, and deserves the lovely bride he got. We wish the happy couple much joy.
On the 28th, at the residence of the bride’s father, in Maple Township, by Rev. C. F. Kingsland, Capt. GEO. F. COWING to MISS PENELOPE M. STRANG.
We welcome another recruit to the ranks of double blessedness. The gallant captain had to yield to the arrow of cupid, after all. We wish him all the joys that accompany a happy marriage.
