Obituary
Frances Marie Legere
(June 16, 1903 - February 5, 2012)
It is with sadness that the family of the late Frances Marie Legere age 108 of Amherst and formerly of River Hebert, Cumberland County announce her passing on Sunday, February 05, 2012 at Gables Lodge, Amherst, NS. Born June 16, 1903 in Lower Cove, raised in Minudie, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Jennie (Des Barres) Terrio and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Frances was a faithful member of St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, River Hebert and a Chartered Member of the Catholic Women’s League, a member of the Altar Society of St. Paul’s and was the oldest member of that church. She loved flowers and gardening and was an active member of the Garden Club in River Hebert and the River Hebert Home and School Association. Frances took training to be a practical nurse and looked after many sick folk in their homes over the years and also worked for Dr. MacIntosh in Amherst. Frances kind and gentle heart allowed her to love everyone equally and without doubt. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Jennie Legere, her grandson Michael (Georgina) Sicheri and great grandson Jacob Sicheri all of Amherst. She is also survived by one sister-in-law Mildred Terrio as well as many nieces and nephews right down to the fifth generation. Frances was predeceased by her husband George in 1998, sisters Irene Melanson and Moudest in infancy, brothers James, Ronald, Jude and Joseph (Jophie) as well as sisters-in-law Grace, Phyllis and Erna Terrio and brother-in-law Fred A. Melanson, two nephews Daniel and Peter Terrio and niece Judith Terrio. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Interment will take place in the spring in the St. Denis Cemetery, Minudie. Memorial donations in Frances’ memory may be made to St. Paul The Apostle Roman Catholic Church, St. Denis Restoration Committee or St. Denis Cemetery Fund.
