Arthur Frederick George April 29, 1922 - June 14, 2009 It is with deep sadness the family of the late Arthur Frederick George of Sackville, NB announces his passing on Sunday, June 14th at the Moncton City Hospital. Artie was born in Midgic, NB, April 29th, 1922, the only son of the late Alice (Cook) and Russell George. He was a World War II veteran having served with the 65th Tank Transport in England, France, Belguim, Holland and Germany. Returning home in 1945, he was a guard at Dorchester Penitentiary until 1950 when he joined the C.N. Police in Moncton retiring in 1979. An active member of the Sackville Legion and C.N. Pensioners Club, he enjoyed many lasting friendships. His love of people, travel and adventure saw Betty and he travelling across Canada and many other countries, always returning with great stories. His family will cherish memories of his love of life, humour and infectious laugh. Leaving to mourn are his wife, Betty (Oulton), Sackville, NB; daughters Margaret Ann Swanson (Max) Harvey, NB; Mary Clark (Royce), Miramichi, NB; stepchildren Carol Strandberg (Doug) and Doug Oulton (Nancy) Sackville, NB, and Peter Oulton (Cathy) Osgoode, ON, grandchildren Tanya (Dale), Eric, Andrew (Glenda), Jeff (Pam), Mike (Stephanie), step-grandchildren Greg, Wayne, Nicki, Wendy, Thomas, Kate; great grandchildren Dylan; Liam, Anna; sisters Bertha Scott, Port Elgin, Marie Goodwin (Keith), Baie Verte, sister-in-law Edith Gremley, Miramichi, NB, sister-in-law Barb McAllister, St. Albert, AB, several cousins, nieces and nephews and his constant companion, Mittens. He was predeceased by first wife Margaret (Gremley) 1968. Following cremation, a public legion service was held from the funeral home June 18th at 1 pm with the committal service following at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens in Moncton. At the request of the family, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #26, Sackville Memorial Hospital or a charity of the donors choice.
