      Elmer C. Fillmore, 79, of Barry Lane, Simsbury, beloved husband for 51 years of Yvette (Roy) Fillmore died Thursday, (November 27, 2003) at Meadowbrook of Granby. He was born November 25, 1924 in Palmer, MA, son of the late Fred and Margaret (Brown) Stager Fillmore and had lived in Simsbury for the past 49 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Fillmore was employed at Tootin Hills School, West Simsbury for 22 years prior to his retirement in 1990. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Simsbury. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara A. and Larry Nightingale of Torrington; a brother, Westley Fillmore residing in Florida; a granddaughter, Diana Satula and her husband Eric of Bethlehem; and a grandson, Mark Nightingale, currently serving in Iraq; many sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, three brothers and a granddaughter. There are no calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated, Friday, December 5, 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 940 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury. Burial will be in Simsbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to thank the staff at Meadowbrook for the loving care they provided Elmer during his stay. Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury has charge of arrangements.
