Obituary
FILLMORE, ERNEST WALTER - The death of Ernest Walter Fillmore, of Hampton, occurred on Sunday July 30, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1920 in Saint John he was the son of the late George and Ida (Marr) Fillmore. Ernie was a Veteran of WWII. He worked as a Burner for the Saint John Shipyard for many years. He was a member and past president of the Hampton Senior Citizen Group and the Royal Canadian Legion in Hampton. In his early years he enjoyed harness racing. He is survived by sons, Randy Fillmore (Susan), Scott (Nancy) and Jimmy (Denise) all of Saint John; daughter, Margaret Clark (Tommy) of Lower Greenwich; step daughter, Sandra Benson (Lloyd) of Sussex; sister, Ruth Sewell (Ralph) of Saint John; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister in law, Grace Simmonds of Hampton and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parent he was predeceased by his first wife Constance P. (Colwell), second wife Mary Mahaney; daughter Connie Quinlan; grandson David Clark and several brothers and sisters. Following cremation, visitations will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Wednesday August 2, 2006 from 12 to 2p.m. The Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel at 2:00p.m. Interment will follow in Gondola Point Baptist Cemetery.
