Obituary
RUSHTON, Elwood Osborne - 70, Oxford, Cumberland Co., passed away peacefully in Moncton City Hospital on Monday, December 1, 2008, with his family by his side. Born in Oxford, he was a son of the late Osborne L. and Kathleen "Kaye" (Rushton) Rushton. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved country music and played guitar at many dances for many years. He also enjoyed music sessions with his close friends. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge No. 26, Oxford, having held every office within the Lodge during his time as a Lodge member and also served as financial secretary for many years. He had received his 50 year jewel. He was employed for a number of years with Enamel and Heating Ltd. in Amherst as an aircraft inspector, following this, he was employed with Fairey Aviation in Halifax for a number of years and following this was employed with D. W. Thompson Ltd. Oxford as a truck driver. After this he was again briefly employed with Enamel and Heating Ltd., Amherst until he became self-employed as the owner and operator of Oxford Auto Supplies which he operated for 22 years until his retirement in 1998. Surviving are his wife, the former B. Jean Fraser; son, Kevin C. Rushton (Karen), New Annan, Colchester Co.; grandchildren, Jennifer Rushton and Jason Rushton; stepgrandson, Ashley Patriquin; great-grandson, Keegan Rushton; sister, Carole A. Thompson (Douglas), Oxford; brother, Winston A. Rushton, Jasper, Alta.; nephews, Mark Rushton, Steven Rushton, Bradley Rushton and Kent Thompson; nieces, Tania Thompson and Erin Emmerson and a number of cousins. Visitation will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with funeral service on Thursday, December 4 at 2 p.m. both in Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford, Rev. Dewis J. Rector officiating. Interment will take place in Mount Pleasant Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery Memorial Fund or Knights of Pythias Lodge No. 26, Oxford Building Fund.
