      SMITH, Sherman Francis - 78, 8 MacLean St., Truro, formerly of Bible Hill, died December 20, 1996, in William's Country Home, Hilden.  Born in Shinimicas, Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late George and Arnetta (Mills) Smith Blair.  He was a member of St. David's United Church and a retired mechanic with Dom-tar Ltd. and also worked with the Corps of Commissionaires.  He was an honorary member of Bible Hill Fire Brigade; member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 26, and the Canadian Order of Foresters.  He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting.  He is survived by his wife, the former Vivian McNutt; son, Wayne and wife Fay, Kemptown; daughters, Heather and husband Bruce Sandeson; Barbara and husband Steve Smith, all of Dartmouth; brother, Elbert, Bible Hill; grandchildren, Aaron, Andrea, Michael, Kevin, Sheryl, David, Christopher.  He was predeceased by his stepfather, Crawford Blair.  Cremation has taken place.  No visitation by request.  A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, Rev. Ebbie Snow officiating.  Burial in the Bible Hill Cemetery.  Family flowers only.  Donations may be made to St. David's United Church or any charity.
