- On October 29, 1969, Ross, Darla, Robbie and Debbie were all axphxyated by a faulty furnace in the house they rented in Coldport, Piction Ontario. On the evening of October 28, 1969, Ross sent his family to the hospital. He had spoken with his sister Elvira on the phone. It sounded like he had a very bad cold. A neighbour from across the road drove them into Picton. They checked in at the hospital emergency, received ID wrist bands and were examined by the doctor on duty that evening. It was determined that they all had the flue and were sent home. At 12:00pm the following day, their neighbour from across the road came over to see how they were doing. They were all found dead.
