Funeral Notice
Funeral Held for Harry A. Smith
Funeral service for Harry Albert Smith of Sackville, whose death occurred at Lancaster D.V.A. Hospital following a lengthy illness, was held on Sunday, April 24 from the Jones Funeral Home at 2:00 PM and was largely attended.
Rev. W.T. Ross Flemington conducted the service assisted by Rev. W. Fraser Munro. Hymns sung by the United Church Choir were The 23rd Psalm and Unto The Hills with Mrs. W. Fraser Munro as pianist.
Pallbearers were Charles Best, Norman Wry, Bedford Amos, Rodger Locke, Bev Crossman and Robert Nixon. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 26, Sackville headed by Ray Long performed the Legion service at the graveside. Last Post was sounded by Ellsworth Bulmer. Interment was in the Sackville Cemetery. The beautiful flowers indicated the esteem in which the deceased was held. There were also many contributions to the Gideon Bible Society.
Mr. Smith, son of Lionel & Rebecca (Murray) Smith, is survived by his wife, the former Nellie Mitchell; one son, Frank, Pembroke, Ontario; one daughter, Phyllis, Mrs. Ronald Chase, Upper Sackville, N.B.; four sisters, Jean, Mrs. Russell Dobson, Westchester, N.S.; Isobel, Mrs. Francis Nevins, Kansas City, Mo; Vivian, Mrs. William Noiles, Springhill, N.S.; and Vera, Mrs. Irving Bulmer, Sackville, N.B..
