Obituary
Reece Edmund Tanner Goodwin passed away at his mother's home in Halifax, surrounded by his family, on November 30, 2007, as a result of colorectal cancer. Born in Fredericton on December 4, 1950. Reece was the son of Lois Goodwin Pepper and the late Robert Edmund Goodwin. Reece was a graduate of Fredericton High School 1968; UNB - B.A.1972 and University of Miami, MBA-1977. Reece was a member of Christ Church Cathedral in Fredericton and had been a member of the boy's choir and also a Sidesman. In his youth, Reece was a Boy Scout, and played the bagpipes in St. Andrew's Pipe Band for many years. He was a member of the Fredericton Golf Club and enjoyed many days skiing at Crabbe Mountain. Reece played various varsity sports throughout high school and university, particularly rugby. Reece was also an avid duck hunter, where he developed his love of Golden Retrievers, particularly Bachelor, Tanner, and Beauregard. He was a lover of all sports, but his passion was for golf, football, and hockey. Throughout his career, Reece worked for various financial institutions in the Maritimes and Toronto. Eventually, in September 2000 Reece moved to Shanghai, China where he taught Business and English, at various Business Training Centers. He also taught one of the passions in his life-golf. Reece thoroughly enjoyed his life in Shanghai and made the most of living in a new culture. Reece returned home in June as a result of his diagnosis and remained positive throughout these last 6 months. He truly believed that there was a time for everything in life. Besides his mother, Reece is survived by his wife, Grace (Chuanhai) Wang (Shanghai, China); his daughter, Holly Gene Goodwin (Fredericton); and her mother, Kim Johnson (Fre dericton); sister, Nora-gene Goodwin (Randy Ball) Bedford; aunt and uncles, Irene and Robert Russell (Thorburn, NS), Henry MacWilliam (Charlottetown PEI); and numerous cousins. Besides his father, Reece was predeceased by his grandparents, Melbourne and Alice Goodwin (Sackville NB), Keith and Mildred Tanner (Thorburn NS); stepfather, Ralph A. Pepper (Halifax); numerous aunts and uncles; and his cousin, Dana. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors on Monday at JA Snow's Funeral Home, Windsor Street, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00p.m. and from 7:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 4 at 11:00a.m. at St. Paul's Church, 1749 Argyle Street, Halifax, the Rev. Dr. Paul Freisen officiating. Interment will occur at a later date in Sackville, NB. Family flowers only.
