Juanita Mae Mattinson
1930-2015
It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Juanita Mae Mattinson (Blair) 85, at East Cumberland Lodge Pugwash, NS on Saturday, August 1, 2015. Born in Mt Pleasant on April 26, 1930, Juanita was the daughter of the late Alton & Ruby (Mills) Blair of River Philip.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by brothers, Leon, Claire and Garnet. Surviving are sisters Pearl Adshade-Cox River Philip, Marie Kidd River Philip, and brothers Doug Blair (Anita) BC, and Donnie (Edie) Blair River Philip as well as many nieces and nephews.
In her younger years Juanita owned and operated a Hairdressing salon in downtown Oxford which eventually moved into her home on James Street. Later she moved to Shelburne where she taught for several years and eventually moved to Springhill where she taught Hairdressing at NSCC until her retirement and then moved back to her family home in River Philip.
Juanita was a lifetime Member of the United Church in River Philip as well as the UCW. She spent many hours either quilting or knitting.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford, NS (902-447-2167). A Graveside service will be held at the River Philip United Church Cemetery, Saturday Aug 8 at 10 am
