Ronald "Ron" Fury 1939-2013
It is with deep sadness that we must announce the peaceful passing of Ronald "Ron" Fury, age 73, of Amherst. Ron passed away surrounded by his loving family in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Gables Lodge.
Born in Point de Bute, NB, he was a son of the late Winston and Alice (Tingley) Fury.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Ron worked at Moloney Electric, but was known best for his part time work at the Aulac Esso for over 30 years. He loved meeting and serving the people that passed through each day. He had a warming personality and was known for always having a bright smile and a kind word. He was truly loved by all who knew him.
He will be sadly missed by children, Sherry (Darren) Bickerton, Amherst, Sandra Trenholm, Amherst, Cathy (Peter) Smith, Amherst, Wanda Fury (Dave Pinto), Edmonton, AB, Kevin (Claudette), Edmonton, AB, Dwayne (Julie Bedard), Dieppe, NB; 17 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers; George (Donna), Moncton, Winston (Marion), Mount Whatley, Donald, Mount Whatley, Brian (Sandra), Dieppe, Kenneth (Sunday), Point De Bute; sisters, Doris Jones, Port Perry, ON, Vera (Mark) Strathearn, Amherst, Heather Robichaud, Amherst, Susan (Duane) Pauley, Westcock; brothers-in-law; Robert Acton, Terry Bird, Wendell Stiles and Donald Coates; sister-in-law Linda Fury; several nieces, nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Florence Gouthreau; son Stephen; brothers, Keith, David; sisters Alma Acton, Marilyn Stiles, Kimberly Bird, Gail Coates; brother-in-law Richard Jones.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will take place on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 2 pm, Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Burial will take place in the Point De Bute Cemetery in the spring.
