Obituary
The death of Alma Acton, age 68, of Cookville, NB, occurred suddenly at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Thursday, December 8, 2005.
Born in Point de Bute, she was a daughter of Alice (Tingley) Fury and the late Winston Fury. A co-owner of RA Farm, she was active with her husband in various farming operations. She had been employed over the years with Enamel & Heating and John Baughan. She was a former leader of Silver Lake 4 H Beef Club, an active member of the Midgic Baptist Church and the ladies aid.
Alma's life was her family and she will be sadly missed by her husband of 48 years, Robert Acton; her mother Alice Fury; 3 daughters, Debbie (Allan) Phinney, Donna (Michael) Beal, Darlene (Sandy MacQuarrie); eight grandchildren, Andrew, Nathan, Rebecca, Matt, Adam, Corey, Lucas and Robert; 3 step-grandchildren, Michael Jr., Tricia and Cheryl; 6 sisters, Doris (Richard) Jones, Gail (Donnie) Coates, Vera (Mark) Strathearn, Heather Robichard, Kim (Terry) Bird, Sue (Duane) Pauley; 8 brothers, George (Donna), Ronnie, Winston (Marion), Keith (Linda), Donnie, David, Brian (Sandra), Ken (Sunday); special aunt Vera (Duncan) Bryden; brother-in-laws, Wendell Stiles, David (Anna) Acton; sister-in-law, Joan (Garth) Dunbar; father-in-law, Reg Acton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her father, Winston, sister, Marilyn Stiles, infant brother, sister-in-law, Florence and mother-in-law Ina Acton.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Midgic Baptist Church, Sunday, December 11, 2005 at 2 pm, Pastor Hal Lowther officiating. Burial in the Cookville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lung Association or the Midgic Baptist Church gratefully appreciated.
