      McCARTHY, Frederick Lewis - 76, Upper Linden, Cumberland Co., passed away peacefully in North Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Pugwash, Cumberland Co., on Saturday, May 10, 2003, with his family by his side. Born in Port Howe, Cumberland Co., he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Etta C. (Dickie) McCarthy. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Standard Tube in Woodstock, Ont. He was a Master Mason in Good Standing in Acadia Lodge No. 13, Pugwash. He was a lover of music, having played in several bands, and he enjoyed fishing and camping. He is survived and dearly missed by his long-time companion, Pauline (Chapman) Finley; sons, Jerry (Joann) McCarthy, Detroit, Mich.; Roy (Lola) McCarthy, Woodstock, Ont.; Dana (Heather) McCarthy, London, Ont.; sister, Muriel (Harry) Chapman, Amherst Head, Cumberland Co.; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Mrs. Evelyn Mundle; great-nephew, David Cameron. Visitation this afternoon and evening, with Acadia Masonic Lodge No. 13 tribute service 7:30 p.m. today, in Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford. Funeral service Tuesday, May 13, at 2 p.m. in Calvary United Church, Port Howe, Rev. Heber Colbourne officiating. Interment will take place in Rockley Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Calvary United Church Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice.
