      TRENHOLM, RALPH - AMHERST, NS - With heavy hearts the family of Ralph Trenholm, age 86, of Amherst announce his peaceful passing at the Gables Lodge, Amherst on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Born in Port Elgin NB, he was a son of the late Trueman and Emily (Mellor) Trenholm. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Air Force Police, in charge of prisoner transport. He served 30 years in the RCAF teaching English to new recruits and managing Canadian Forces Hotels in France and Germany. Retiring to Nova Scotia he co-owned a Furniture Restoration and Antique business with his wife Edna. He spent 10 years as postmaster in Southampton and Maitland, NS. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He enjoyed carpentry, golf, curling as well as coaching minor hockey league teams. He will be sadly missed by his sons, Douglas and Larry (Nancy), both of Amherst; daughter, Sharon (Thomas) Gaillard, Dartmouth; grandchildren Sean, Kevin and Pamela, Jennifer, Jeremy, and Madisyn; great grandchildren, Connell, Nevyn, and Noah; brother Carl, Port Elgin, NB. He was predeceased by his wife Edna, brothers Lloyd, Horace, Harold and sister Eva Spence.
      Ralph's remains have been entrusted into the care of the A H Brown Funeral Service, Springhill from where the funeral service will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 2 pm, Rev. Alan Griffin officiating. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Burial in the Southampton Cemetery. Donations to Cancer society or a charity of the donor's choice gratefully appreciated. www.furlongjones.ca
