      Eugene G. Haynes
      1921-2010

      Eugene G. Haynes, age 88, of Tidnish, NS, passed away peacefully at the High Crest Nursing Home, Springhill on February 1, 2010.

      Born in Coventry, England, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Edith E. (Townsend) Haynes.

      He moved to Tidnish when he was six years old, where he lived and worked most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II (North Shore Regiment). He was a farmer, lumberman and carpenter, working at KP Allens. He was a member of the Christ Church, Amherst and was an adherent of the Lorneville United Church. Eugene was a life member of the Tidnish Cross Roads Community Association, and a member of the Sunrise Campers. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family before his latest illness.

      He will be sadly missed by his wife of 64 years, the former Margaret J. Jackson; son Paul (Brenda Amos), Lorneville; daughters, Jane (Larry) Ogden and Gloria King, both of Tidnish; grandchildren, Patricia LeBlanc, Richard Ogden, Kevin King, Marie, Adam and Danny Haynes; four step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. Eugene will also be missed by his brother Dennis (Doris), Tidnish Bridge and sister Dorothy Haynes, Cole Harbour and many nieces and nephews. Also a good friend Gus.

      He was predeceased by step son Owen Twaddle, grandson Kent King, son-in-law Robert King, sister Dulcie Haynes, brothers Arthur, John and Doug.

      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777), where visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 from noon until the time of the funeral at 2 pm, Archdeacon Glenn Eason and Rev. Philip Read officiating. Cremation has taken place, burial will take place in the Lorneville Cemetery in the spring.
