  	Obituary AMHERST - Mrs. Mary E. (Betty) Smith, 44, wife of Edsel M. Smith, of Amherst and formerly of Shinimicas, died Friday in the Halifax Infirmary.  Born in Amherst, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Fields.  Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Darrlye, at home; one sister, Doris (Mrs. Victor Patterson), Bowmanville, Ont.; two brothers, Lewis, Oshawa, Ont.; Charles, Amherst; one half brother, Gordon Brown, Newcastle, Ont.  The body is at Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst, where funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev.
