George E. Bigelow
1920-2009
The death of George E. Bigelow, age 88, of Amherst, occurred at the Gables Nursing Home on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009.
Born in Springhill. he was a son of the late Charles and Carrie (Corkum) Bigelow.
A carpenter by trade, he was self employed for a number of years in the Amherst area building many homes. He eventually became an Industrial Arts Teacher at the Atlantic Provinces Resource Center for the Hearing Handicapped. A devoted husband, he dedicated his life to looking after Grace during their 55 years of marriage.
George will be sadly missed by his sisters, Hazel (Frank) Calder and Inez Smith; and by a brother, Ralph (Mary) Bigelow; and by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife the former Grace (Siddall) in 1997, and by brothers, Kenneth and Gordon.
George's remains have been cremated under the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (667-8777) from where a memorial service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2009 at 2 pm. Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation from 1 pm until the time of the funeral. Donations to a charity of the donor's choice gratefully appreciated.
