Tarpon Springs, Fla. - Gordon L. Jackson, 95, a former longtime resident of Tewksbury who was active in community organizations, died Friday, Jan. 21, at Community Hospital in New Port Richey. He was the husband of Barbara E. (Wilder) Jackson, who died July 24, 1989.
He was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, on Aug. 24, 1909, the son of the late Andrew H. and Eva J. (Siddall) Jackson. He was raised and educated in Amherst, Nova Scotia. In 1938, he moved to Tewksbury, where he lived for 54 years until moving to Tarpon Springs in 1992.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Jackson was employed for 30 years by Atlantic Gelatin Co., a division of Kraft Foods in Woburn, Mass.
While living in Tewksbury, he was a member of the Tewksbury United Methodist Church. He was also a 33rd degree member and past master of the Wamesit Masonic Lodge AF & AM of Tewksbury. He was also a member of Scottish Rite Lowell Lodge of Perfection, Council of Princess of Jerusalem, Mount Calvary Chapter of Rose Croix and the Massachusetts Consistory of Boston.
He enjoyed playing golf and singing at his grandchildren's weddings.
He is survived by two daughters, Joyce R. Smith and her husband Robert of New Port Richey, and Diane R. Driscoll and her husband Richard of Merrimack, N.H.; a son, Gerald L. Jackson and his wife Doris of Westford; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bessie Castellano of Medford, Mass., and Myra Mifflin of Stoneham, Mass.; a brother, Norman Jackson of Revere, Mass. He also leaves companion for the past 10 years, Betty Eggleston of Niles, Mich. and Tarpon Springs; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jackson was the brother of the late Jeanne Rose, Audray, Theodore and Perry Jackson.
