OBITUARY
Octogenarian of Port Elgin Passed Away
Mrs. David G. Field Died Recently at Home of Her Son in Hampton, Aged 81
Years.
Mrs. David G. Field, lat of Port Elgin, N.B., died at the home of her
son, Ernest L. Field, at Hampton on Feb. 9. Mrs. Field was born at
Upper Cape, Westmorland County, 81 years ago and was the daughter of the
late Squire Ephraim Rayworth. Mrs. Field's husband died three years
ago. She leaves two sons, Dr. Burton R., of Centreville, and Ernest L.,
of Hampton; also one daughter, Mrs. Ernest Reid, of Port Elgin. The
late Mrs. Field was of English descent, her father being the first
English child born in the parish of Botsford, Westmorland county. The
late Ephraim Rayworth's home was well known for its hospitality, many of
the leading citizens of the Maritimes Provinces having been entertained
there. Mrs. Field will be remembered by her friends as a lady of
culture and admirable qualities. The remains were taken to Port Elgin
for burial, accompanied by her two sons, Dr. Burton R. Field, of
Centreville, and Ernest L. Field, of Hampton. The funeral was held on
Monday from the residence of the deceased's daughter, Mrs. Ernest Reid,
of Port Elgin. Service was conducted by Rev. A.W. Teed, of Mt. Whatley,
assisted by Rev. Mr. Chapman. Interment was in Fernwood cemetery.
