ALLEN, JOANN (BERNARD) - 1949 - 2014 - Little Shemogue, N.B. - It is with deep sadness that the family of JoAnn Marie Allen, announce her passing on Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. JoAnn was 64 years of age. Born in Summerside, PEI on December 12, 1949, JoAnn was the daughter of Rita Bernard. JoAnn never had a driver’s license but was rarely ever home and loved running the roads and being busy. She was a social butterfly who lived her life for her family and friends. She loved staying connected with people on the computer, sharing and touching people’s lives through using Facebook. JoAnn was the best wife, mother and nannie and enjoyed baking and quilting. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. JoAnn will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 35 years, Urban Allen; her mother, Rita Bernard; her children, Shelley (Darren) Doyle; Jo Lynn Allen (Philip) and Carl (Jennifer) Allen; six grandchildren, Chad and Carlee Doyle, Molly Stright, Daniel Clark, Mia Allen and Lilly Clark; two sisters, Donna and Pame; six brothers, Barrie, Danny, Howie, Ricky, Blake and John, as well as many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. JoAnn was a special nannie to Zachary Stright, Lucan Stright, Jonathan Finnegan and Benjamin Kummer.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-8188). In keeping with JoAnn’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at the East Botsford Recreation Center in Murray Corner, N.B. on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 1 pm with William Drysdale, DLM officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of JoAnn may be made to the New Brunswick Women’s Institute Office Fund, 681 Union Street, Fredericton, N.B. E3A 3N8 or charity of one’s choice. The family wishes to send a sincere thank you to Dr. Sheldon Rubin at the Moncton Hospital, Dr. Lirette at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Dr. Cory Long at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, Dr. Harold Popma at the Sackville Memorial Hospital and to all the nursing staff who cared for JoAnn during her battle with cancer. www.campbellsfuneralhome.com
