GA - Annie had dark eyes and hair- her eyes were a dark agate, according to Annie Gifford Oulton. She had beautiful small hands despite the hard work on the farm in Jolicure. Their house was small where they lived when first married, but Albert "was a good provider. There was wood for the stove and under the kitchen floor was a 'root cellar' where he had stored vegatables, turnips, potatoes, etc. and a barrel of pork. A ladder led to the root cellar with a trap door cut in the kitchen floor. Albert was working all the time on the outbuildings. Albert had built by himself the main house added to the ell by the time Mabel Durexa was born. The house was insulated with moss gathered from the edge of the marsh. Doubled lathed and plastered, it was a sturdy home with hand-made scroll work and a bay window where Annie kept many plants. They had a piano in one front room, and an organ in the other.
Annie and Albert took care of Annie's mother in her final days.
Annie suffered a stroke in 1928/29, and a broken arm during the summer of 1929, just before her husband Albert died. She stayed some of the time with her daughter Mabel.
She was related to Edward Hicks of Hinkley, ME who lived So. of Skowhegan opposite the bridge over the river. Mom (Anne O Galt) played with his children when her parents (George E. & Ella Oulton) vistied him.
