Olga Briggs
1923-2008
The death of Olga Briggs, age 84, of Sackville, occurred peacefully in the early morning of Sunday, July 6, 2008, at the Sackville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Bayfield, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Edith (Stright) Briggs.
Olga lived a life devoted to helping others, including the hundreds of students she taught in a career that spanned 49 years. Blessed with a quick wit and a way with words, she took great pleasure in composing poems to mark special occasions. She also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, tutoring and walking in the Waterfowl Park.
Olga will be sadly missed by her sister Hilda Ripley of Sackville; nephews, Bill (Kendra) Sloan, of Moncton and Eric (Debbie) Sloan of Murray Corner; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister Kathleen, brother Cyril, brother-in-law William "Bill" Sloan and nephew Gary Sloan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (506-364-1300) where visitation will take place on Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 11 am, William Drysdale LPMiT officiating. Burial will follow in the Trenholm Cemetery, Spence.
