      Bill Brooks October 5, 1937 - January 8, 2017

      It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bill Brooks of Amherst announce his sudden passing on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. 
      Born in Campbellton, NB, he was a son of the late Edward and Frances (Price) Brooks. 
      After graduating from Campbellton High School in 1955, Bill went on to Mount Allison University that September, where he played varsity hockey, was V.P. of mens athletic council, Pres. Mens administrative Council, Secretary Treasurer of the class of 1959 and was student assistant, Commerce Department. While attending Mount Allison University Bill taught at the commercial department at Sackville High until he graduated from Mount A in 1959. 
      Bill was employed as a CA student at K.P.M.G. in Moncton and Grant Thorton, Newcastle, NB following that time he obtained CA designation in September, 1962. 
      He continued his career with several positions from 1962 to 1999, those jobs included N.B. Community College Business Technology Dept., Mount Allison Univ. Asst. professor Commerce from 1963 – 1965 and 1969 – 1971, Atlantic Sleep Products LTD, Treasurer, Web Merchandising LTD, President, Dept. of Regional Economic Expansion, Industrial Dev. Officer, Dept. of Indian Affairs A.R.D. Economic Dev. and Dept. of Indian Affairs Regional Director in Amherst, Mount St. Vincent University Asst. to the president, and Oxford Frozen Foods LTD. Bill held various positions with Bragg Communications Inc. until 1999 where he retired from his position as president. In retirement he still enjoyed consulting work. 
      Bill was a member of the N.B. Institute of Chartered Accountants since 1962, he was also a former member of the Amherst Rotary Club and Halifax West Rotary Club. 
      He had a great sense of humour and enjoyed reading and golfing. 
      Bill will be deeply missed by his wife Cynthia (McManaman) and grandson Colton Hachey. He is also survived by one daughter, one son, two brothers, one brother in law, sisters in law and several nieces and nephews. 
      At Bill’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. 
      There will be a private graveside service held in the spring. 
      Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst, 902-667-9906. 
      Donations can be made in Bill’s memory to the charity of your choice.
