Obituary
Nellie“Dolly” Elva Veno
It is with great sadness that the family of Nellie “Dolly” Elva Veno, age 80, of Fort Lawrence, announce her passing at home on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018 with her family by her side, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Johnstone) MacKay. Her love of life allowed her to make each day a new adventure with her family and friends. Whether it was playing darts, four wheeling, side by siding or jumping in the car to do a road trip or just out in the yard gardening and adding to her Boston Bruins “Wall of Fame”, she loved life to the fullest each and every day. She touched the heart of everyone she met and was proud to live in the close-knit community she chose to spend her life in, with her husband Archie, raising her family and instilling her love of that community in her children. Most important to her was her family and she expressed the love she had for them in everything she did. Nellie will be lovingly remembered by daughters Diann (Trevor), Sandra (Dirk), Marlene(Colin), Barbara (Alan), Sherry (Danny) and Teresa (Grant), son Preston; 14 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren; brothers George MacKay and Edward (Carol) MacKay. Besides her parents, Nellie was predeceased by her husband Archibald “Archie” Veno, and grandson Jeffrey; brothers Ross, Alec and Robert and sister Annie. A service to celebrate the life of Nellie will be held on Sunday, January 28,2018 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Donnie Miller officiating, held in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst, 902-667-9906. Special thanks go out the VON and Palliative Care Program of Amherst as well as Dr. Whitlock and all his wonderful staff at the Oncology Department at the George Dumont Hospital in Moncton. Donations can be made in Nellie’s memory to the L.A. Animal Shelter. Condolences and sharing of memories may be shared with the family via: www.campbellsamherst.ca or by visiting the Funeral Home Facebookpage.
