AMHERST - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Celia Udivillia Smith on Monday, October 20, 2003 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre surrounded by her family. She was born in Shinimicas on Sept. 22, 1917. She was a dau. of the late Roy and Bertha (Beharrell) Fisher. Celia was educated in Shinimicas and received her hairdressing diploma from Ken Parsons Beauty Salon. She was a former member of the Shinimicas United Church. She was a member of Trinity- St. Stephen's United Church, Amherst, the UCW and the East Amherst Ladies Institute. Celia along with her husband, Victor, ran the family farm in East Amherst for over 50 years. Celia was totally devoted to her family and will be sadly missed by her four children, Roy Smith (Sharman) of Amherst; Roger Smith (Maureen) of Antigonish, Lillie Partridge of Warren; Charles Smith (Jean) of Nappan and step-son, Graham Smith (Barbara) of Fredericton. She will be loved and remembered by her 10 gch., Colin and Kim Smith of Amherst; Michelle Smith of Antigonish; Stephen Smith of Antigonish; Sheila Doirion of Pomquet; Lisa Partridge of Amherst; Chadley and Kenton Smith of Amherst; Matthew Smith of Charlottetown; two step-gch., Ian Smith and Monica Smith of Alberta; seven ggch.; two nieces; Joyce Trueman of Truemanville; and Jean Goguen of Vinica, Ca.; and two nephews, Don Fisher of Shinimicas and Eric Corney of Fontana, Ca. Celia was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Victor O. Smith, East Amherst; second husband of seven years, Leon Smith of Belmont St.; son-in-law Bryan Partridge of Warren; brother, Eden Fisher of Shinimicas and sister, Opal Corney of Amherst. Her remains are resting at Furlong's Funeral Home in Amherst, visitation was held Wed. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service was held at the Cumberland Memorial Chapel on Thurs. at 2 p.m. with Rev. Allan Griffin officiating. Burial was in the Warren Cemtery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Warren Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
