ANDERSON, CHARLES S. - 1919 - 2013 - The death of Charles S. Anderson, 93, of Sackville occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Born in Middle Sackville, Charles was a son of the late James and Annie (Morton) Anderson. Charles was a member of the Middle Sackville United-Baptist Church. He had been a self-employed farmer and licensed electrician. His passion was music and singing. He was well known for his attendance in local singing groups. Since retirement, he enjoyed making rolling pins in the homemade lathe built by Charles and his brother. Charles will be sadly missed by two sons, Fred (Margaret), Sackville and Wendell (Lucy), Dorchester; one daughter, Wendy (Carmen) Duncan, Sackville; a grandson, Jesse, Dorchester; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Anderson, Hilda Brooks and Edith Hicks; two brothers-in-law, Cecil Hicks and Guptill Hicks, as well as many nieces and nephews. Charles was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Glenara (Hicks) in 2006; two brothers, Josiah and Donald Anderson and a sister, Florence Wheaton.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of the Jones Family of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300) from where a time of gathering and visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service for Charles will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, July 14 from the funeral home. Following the service, Charles will be laid to rest along side his wife in the Four Corners Cemetery. Reverend Vernon Vickruck officiating. The funeral service will be available for viewing for those who cannot attend by visiting the funeral home website. The family would like to request, that in lieu of flowers, donations be placed in memory of Charles to Sackville Memorial Hospital, Tantramar Extra Mural, The Middle Sackville United-Baptist Church or a charity of one's choice.
