Hill, Susan Ann - 54, Amherst, NS, died on Sept. 14, 2014 in Amherst, NS with her family by her side, after a brief illness of pancreatic cancer. Born in Sept.-Iles, Quebec to Avard and Mary (Burke) Christie.
She is survived by her daughters Samantha (David) Downey of Amherst and Kristy (Scott) Houlihan of Dartmouth and three grandchildren Laurana, Violet-Anne and Grayson. Also survived by her parents; brothers Claude (Marion), Mike (Jillian) and Artie (Tania) Christie; sisters Cheryl (Lewis) Boom and Francine (Kevin) Stuart; many nieces and nephews and friend, Jim Dorrington. Susan was predeceased by her former husband, L. Dan Hill in April 2014.
She had worked for CANSA in Amherst for the past 12 years.
Genealogy research was her passion for nearly 30 years, having served on the Board of both the Cumberland County Genealogical Society and prior to that with the Amherst Township Historical Society. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Susan also enjoyed spending time at Heather’s Beach in the summer and recently discovered how much she enjoyed winter get aways with family to sunny destinations.
Arrangements are in the care of Campbell¹s Funeral Home, Amherst, NS (902 667-9906). In accordance with Susan’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations maybe made to the Cumberland County Genealogical Society.
