    • The bride and groom were first cousins. The missionary refused to marry them. So they married before a Protestant pastor. After having obtained a dispensation from the Bishop and did a public penence, they were married by Father Antoine Bedard. In the 1851 census for the parish of Alnvick, Henriette "Gould" was living at the home of Lazare Desroches at Riviere-du-Portage. There was a dispensation of 4 to 4th degree.-from Doiron book, translated by A.Owen,Jan2015.
