    Obituary

BOYD, Stephen Joseph - 52, Kentville, passed into God's hands Monday, June 9, 2003, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Windsor, Hants Co., he was a son of Clarence "Obe" and Elizabeth "Betty" (MacDonald) Boyd, Three Mile Plains, Hants Co. He had been employed with Hostess/Frito-Lay for over 10 years. He was a Scout leader in New Minas for two years and a member of the Cursillo movement. He was an active member of St. James Anglican Church, Kentville, and served on many committees and in various capacities. He was the chairman of the parents Committee of Squadron 507 Air Cadets, Camp Aldershot. Stephen was a soft spoken, genuinely kind and sincere man. These were qualities that were well appreciated and truly loved by Christy, his wife of 24 years. Both shared a distinct and pure love of God and family. In a time when relationships can easily dissolve, Christy and Stephens' loe and commitment continued to build stronger and everlasting. Stephen took such pride in his son, Darcy, who he adored. Always ready to volunteer for his son's activities, he was an inspiration to other parents, reminding them to take a hands on approach to parenting. Anyone who was fortunate enough to know Stephen will miss his quiet laugh and warm grin. We hope that those who did not know Stephen will find a friend that can give them the same joy that Stephen freely gave to others. Stephen is survived by his wife, Christine "Christy" Burbidge-Boyd; son, Darcy, at home; sisters, Doralee (David) Amos, Three Fathom Harbour, Halifax Co.; Elaine (Garry Darris) Boyd, New Minas; Dianne Boyd, Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Wayne. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today in W.C. Hiltz/White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A celebration of Stephen's life will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, June 12, in St. James Anglican Church, Kentville, Canon Cal McMillan and Rev. Michael Boyd officiatin. Burial will take place in Garden of Rest Cemetery, Parish of St. James, Kentville. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada or St. James Anglican Church Building Fund. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to W.C.
