    Obituary

Joseph E. Mattinson, an aged resident of Shinimicas Bridge passed away Feb 10th at the home of his grandson, Murray Mattinson, Chelsea, Mass.  The deceased had been spending a few weeks with his children when he was stricken down with that dread disease, influenza, which developed late pneumonia and in spite of all the medical skill and loving hands could do, he passed away to the great world beyond.  The deceased was at the time of his death in his seventy-first year.  He was a deacon of the Baptist Church for many years and had a bright and cheerful word for every one.  He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife and four children, Mrs. Pearly Barbrick, Miner and Alex Mattinson, all of Haverhill, Mass.  Mrs. John H. McDonald of Oxford, and several grandchildren of whom Ava Eaton resides at his former home.  Also one sister, Mrs. Clinton Bigelow, Kings Co., and four brothers, John, Vance, Smith and Wellington of Brockton, Mass.  The remains were brought home and the funeral service was held from his late home on Sunday afternoon where, despite the rough weather, a large number of friends paid their last respect to the deceased.  Pastor Scott of Oxford gave a message of comfort and consolation to the bereaved family and friends from the text, "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord".  The hymns were, "Shall we Gather at the River?" "Rock of Ages" "Abide with Me".  The burial took place at Birch Grove Cemetery.  To the wife and family of the deceased we extend our deepest sympathy. "Gone, but not forgotten".
