    AMHERST - Peter John Petrus, 76, of 20 Clifford Street, Amherst, died Friday in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst.  Born in Belleshille, Scotland, he was a son of the late Angus and Annie (Weaver) Petrus.  He was a welder with Robb Engineering Works for several years prior to his retirement in 1968.  A veteran of the Second World War, he served overseas with the Second Medium Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery.  He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Amherst Branch 10.  He is survived by his wife, the former Lyttle Miller, three daughters, Shirley, and Wendy (Mrs. Dana Sonier), both of Amherst; Wilma (Mrs. Kenneth Currie), Ottawa; a son, John, Ottawa; a sister, Elenora North, North Barnaby, B.C. (sic); six grandchildren and a great grandson.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Annie and Margaret.  Following cremation a memorial service will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst; Rev. Peter Mitchell officiating.

    LYTTLE, Evelyn Petrus - 92, Gables Lodge, formerly of Amherst, died May 11, 2002, in the Lodge. Born in Oxford, she was a daughter of the late John and Maude (Brownell) Miller. Surviving are daughters, Shirley and Wendy Petrus, Wilma Currie (Kenneth); son, John (Madeline); brother, Vaughn Miller; six grandchildren; two great-grandsons. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter; sister, Inez Hunter; brothers, Aubrey, Herman. Her remains have been cremated. No visiting. Memorial service 2 p.m. Tuesday in Cumberland Memorial Chapel, Amherst, Rev. Allan Griffin officiating. A reception will be in the chapel reception hall before burial which will be in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill. Donations may be made through Furlong's Funeral Home.

    It is with deep regret we learned of the passing of Mrs. Maude Julia Miller at the Outpost Hospital, Pugwash, on Oct. 26th.  She was the widow of the late John M. Miller, who predeceased her 11 years ago.  She was born at Oxford, the daughter of the late Thomas and Annie Brownell.  She resided in Oxford most of her life, moving to Little River 8 years ago, where she resided until her death.
    Although in failing health for a number of years, her death came as a shock to her wide circle of friends and family. She was confined to her bed for 5 weeks previous to her passing.  She is survived by her sorrowing family, two daughters (Lyttle) Mrs. Peter Petrus, Mansfield; (Inez) Mrs. Charles Hunter, Little River, three sons, Herman of Oxford; Vaughn of Brantford, Ontario; Aubrey of Edmonton, Alberta, also three sisters, (Lydia) Mrs. John McDonald, Oxford; Miss Pearl Brownell, Kolbec; (Nellie) Mrs. Walter Seigeil, Milwaukee, Wis., and one brother, Percy Brownell, Lowell, Mass.  Two brothers, Frank and Chancey Brownell, lost their lives in action in World War I.  The funeral service was conducted by Rev. F.J. Neal of Trinity United Church with interment in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery.  The pallbearers were Messrs. Merton Seaman, Lloyd Adshade, Everett Hunsley, Howard Wood, James Stewart and Elmer Patterson.  The beautiful flora tributes were as follows: ... [tributes not transcribed]
