    HILLS, Harry Hunter - 90, Halifax, formerly of Lunenburg, died January 31, 1995, in Halifax. Born in Upper Stewiacke, he was a son of the late John Edmund and Allie May (Smith) Hills. He attended school in Oxford and the Commercial College at Mount Allison University. He joined the Bank of Nova Scotia and in 1928 joined Royal Securities (later Merrill Lynch). During the Second World War he was with the Halifax Rifles and later commissioned with the Royal Canadian Army Pay Corps with the rank of major and paymaster of No. 6 District Depot, often going late at night to the convoys to pay the men before their embarkation for Europe. In 1946 he became manager of Royal Securities in Halifax until retirement in 1971. He was a director of Royal Securities; commodore of Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron; senior skip of the Halifax Curling Club; member of Bluenose Golf Club and a mason. He was active in fundraising for the Salvation Army. Surviving are a brother, Reginald, Waverley; daughter, Joan (Mrs. Ronald Pugsley), Halifax; sons, Jack, Oakville, Ont.; David, Bermuda; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Elda (Dee) Wood; brothers, Edmund, Robert. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 5 in St. Matthew's United Church, Barrington Street, Halifax, Rev. John Moses officiating.

    MRS BORDEN SMITH
    OXFORD, Feb. 23 - The funeral of the late Mrs. Borden Smith was held from the family home in Main Street Sunday afternoon, with many friends assembled to pay last tribute of respect to his highly esteemed citizen. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. D. B. Tupper, pastor of Trinity United Church, of which church the deceased lady was a valued member. Burial was made in Pine Grove cemetery, Oxford.
    Mrs. Smith had resided in Oxford most of her long life, and would have observed her 90th birthday in May. Until ill health prevented, she took an active part in the work of Colfax Rebekah Lodge No. 7, Oxford. She was twice married, her first husband, Robert Smith, predeceasing her in 1898, and her second husband, Borden Smith, passing away within the past year.
    She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John E. Hills, Oxford, and Mrs. Lewis N. Morrison, Mahone Bay. Two grandsons, H. H. Hills and Reginald Hills, Halifax, and Robert Hills, Montreal, are also among the survives.
