Charles was the only son of Charles who settled in Acadia. Other members of the family were deported to New England and, about 1768, they emigrated to Quebec. Charles was one of the "original tenants" of Desbarres at the Champs Elyses in 1768. He died between the years 1787 and 1789 because in the 1790 census, it reads: Widow Melanson, males 4, females 2.
