    It is with great sadness that we the family announce the sudden passing of Lillian Boyce on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at home. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Isabelle (Gove) Strickland. Lillian was a member of Sacred Heart Church. She was a volunteer for 35 years as a Beaver leader in the Scouting movement. She was a member of the CWL and taught religion. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, who will be truly missed by all who knew her. Lillian is survived by her loving husband, Harold; her children, Colette (Zal) Jackson, Cathy Boyce (John), Robert (Leah), James (Lori), Dennis (Gail), John (Janet), Harold Jr. (Joan), Elaine (Brendan); her precious grandchildren, Christopher, Robert, Ryan, Chris, Matthew, Evan, Megan, Mark, Bethany, Kurtis, Daniel, Bridgette, Jeffrey, Kyle, Kolby, Avery, Lillyanna; her great-grandchildren, Thomas, Alexander, Teagan and Madeline. She is also survived by her sister, Cassie; brothers, William, Gordon, Jimmy, Kenny, Roy and Joe; daughter-in-law, Cindy Higdon; many nieces and nephews, as well as her dear friend, Diane MacDonald. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Wayne, granddaughter, Brittney, and brother, Bobby. A special thank you to the VON nurses and the Red Cross for the help over the years. Visitation will take place Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at Sacred Heart Church, George Street, with Fr. Anthony O’Conner officiating. Interment to take place at a later date in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Online condolences may be sent to our web page at www.chantfuneralhome.com.
