    YOUNG, A. LAURENCE - The death of Andrew Laurence Young of York Point, Saint John, New Brunswick, husband of Muriel Evelyn (Beth) (Teed) Young, occurred on Sunday, January 20, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in 1910 in Edinburgh, Scotland, he was the son of the late Provost Thomas E. Young W.S. and Mrs. Agnes (MacDougal) Young of Auchterarder, Perthshire. Educated at Edinburgh Academy, he had a wide ranging career in transportation. After working with a shipping company in Glasgow and another in Bordeau, France, he went to Irrawaddy Flotilla Company. In 1938, he joined Imperial Airways, which is now British Airways, and acted as Manager in various areas of the Middle East-Iraq, the Nile, and the Horn of Africa. In 1946, he was invited to join the International Air Transport Association to organize Traffic activities of that Association's Head Office which was being set up in Montreal. In 1954, he became the Association's Corporate Secretary where he had contact with the heads of the world's major airlines. He continued in that capacity until his retirement in 1971. On retirement, he moved to Hampton, New Brunswick where he was involved in numerous activities such as politics, scouting, Red Cross and Hampton Presbyterian Church. He came to York Point. Saint John, in 1987 and became a member of the Church of St. John and St. Stephen. He was a member of the New Brunswick Historical Society, New Brunswick United Empire Loyalist Association, New Brunswick Museum, PROBUS, and the St. Andrew's Society of Saint John. He was also a member of the Canadian Institute of International Affairs, the Edinburgh Academical Club, the BOAT Club (Retired British Airways Executives), Association of IATA Retirees, and the Traveler's Century Club, (Which comprises those who have traveled to more than 100 countries). After his retirement, he continued his interest in international travel and, with his wife, visited places where his work had not taken him such as by rail through Eastern Europe on the Orient Express, from Siberia into China by the Moscow/Beijing Express, and to the centre of Australia as well as on rivers such as the Danube, Volga, Yangtze and Amazon. Both Laurence and his wife were interested in children and through participation in the Foster Parent Plan cared for children in the Far East. He is survived by his wife, three sons; Ian of Ottawa, Ontario , Tom of Parrsboro, Nova Scotia, Kenneth of Calgary, Alberta, and one daughter, Nancy (Mrs. R.D. Henderson) of Calgary, Alberta, and eleven grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Andrew, and one daughter Margaret (Mrs. D. Wright). Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, New Brunswick (506-634-7424) with visitation on Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from the Church of St. John and St. Stephen, Coburg Street, Saint John, on Thursday, January 24, 2002 at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Lower Norton Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

    YOUNG, MURIEL EVELYN (BETH) nee TEED - Relict of Andrew Laurence Young, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at her apartment at Fountains of Mission, in Calgary, Alberta. Born 1919 in Saint John, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late John F. H. Teed and Mrs. Muriel Teed (Hannington), of Saint John. Also predeceased by her two oldest children Margaret (David Wright) and Andrew (Karen Andrews). She will be sadly missed by her three sons: Ian (Angela Romany) of Ottawa ON, Tom of Parsboro NS, and Kenneth (Shirley Pasmore) of Calgary AB, and daughter Nancy (Randy Henderson) of Halifax NS. Grandmother of thirteen and great-grandmother of two. Sister of George, Hugh and Eric Teed, Mary Gillis and Gloria Trivett. Sister-in-law of Elizabeth and Lois Teed and Rev. Don Trivett. Beth also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins to mourn her passing. Educated at Edgehill School for Girls in Nova Scotia, she graduated from McGill University in 1940. Beth taught at her alma mater in Nova Scotia for several terms before joining the Royal Canadian Navy at their Naval Intelligence Headquarters in Ottawa. Promoted to officer in the Wrens, she remained in Ottawa until the end of the war. In 1946, she was invited to join the International Air Transport Association's Head Office in Montreal, where she met her future husband, Laurence Young. Married in November 1947, Beth and Laurence had a marriage full of exciting travels, momentous events and interesting people. The traditions that were so much a part of Beth's life are a legacy carried on in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Visitations in Calgary will be on Wednesday, October 12, from 3 to 6pm, at McInnis & Holloway Funeral Home, Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Will later rest at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB with visitation on Friday, October 14 from 2pm to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at the Trinity Anglican Church, Charlotte Street, Saint John, NB, on Saturday, October 15, at 11am.     "Mariner George, the oldest of the four sons, studied at both Mount Allison and Saint Joseph's Universities. He practiced law in Dorchester and later in Saint John and he was the Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese of Fredericton. He and his wife,
    former Margaret Hanington of Dorchester, continued to make their summer home in the shiretown where they had purchased Rocklyn, Edward Baron Chandler's Regency mansion."
