    OULTON, James Oliver - 92, Centennial Villa, formerly of Brookdale, died May 28, 2002, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Lorneville, he was a son of the late David and Etta (Goodwin) Oulton. Surviving are son, Wayne; step-daughter, Norma Crawford (Thomas); step-son, Ancil Mills; brothers, Ernest, Hibbert; granddaughter, Angela; five stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Nova Chapman; his second wife, the former, Ethel (Beaton) Mills; sister, Susie Greeno. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst.
    Funeral 2 p.m. Friday in Cumberland Memorial Chapel, Danny Compton officiating. Burial in Lorneville Cemetery.

    OBITUARY

    The death occurred early Wednesday morning of David Edgar OULTON at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Greenough and Mr. Greenough of Lorneville, where he had resided for the past six years. Mr. Oulton was in his 91st year and a life-long resident of Lorneville. He was predeceased by his wife 14 years ago and is survived by one daughter, Susie, Mrs. Greenough, three sons, James, Brookdale, Hibbert, Northport and Ernest, Lakeburn, N.B. Also five grandchildren. The late Mr. Oulton will rest at Furlong's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held from Lorneville United Church Friday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock conducted by Rev. Boyd Butt. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.

    AMHERST - Hazen Elery Chapman, 94, of Brookdale died at home Thursday. He was born in Chapman Settlement, son of the late Howard E. and Elizabeth (Ogden) Chapman. During the greater part of his life he operated a lumber business and owned and operated one of the first steam saw mills in this part of Nova Scotia. He lived at Chapman Settlement, moving to Brookdale in later life. He attended the United Church. His wife, the former Annie S. Oulton died in 1946. He leaves to mourn his son Carmen and daughter Reta, both at home, daughter Hilda (Mrs. Clifford King) of Amherst; a grandson; one sister Mrs. Dora Chapman, Amherst and a brother Dousit of Truemanville. The funeral service was at Furlong's Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock conducted by Rev. Derek Whitworth. Committal service was in the Amherst Cemetery Chapel. Burial is in the Lorneville Cemetery in the spring.

    OBITUARY

    The death of Mrs. Annie Sophie CHAPMAN, wife of Hazen Chapman of Chapman Settlement, occurred this morning at an early hour after an illness extending over a period of three years. The deceased was well known and highly esteemed in the community in which she lived, and took an active interest in church and local affairs when her health permitted. She was a member of the Ladies Aid, and of fine Christian character. The late Mrs. Chapman, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Oulton of Lorneville, was 63 years of age. She is survived by her husband, one son, Carmen at home, and three daughters, Hilda, a member of the Amherst teaching Staff, Nova, teacher at Chapman Settlement, and Reta at home, who cared for her mother during her illness. There also survive one sister, Mrs. Burton Cloney of Edmonton, Alberta, and two brothers, Charles E. Oulton of Baie Verte and Ellsworth Oulton of Framingham, Mass. The remains are resting at Furlong's Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have not been completed, pending weather and road conditions.
