ALLEN, JOANN (BERNARD) - 1949 - 2014 - Little Shemogue, N.B. - It is with deep sadness that the family of JoAnn Marie Allen, announce her passing on Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. JoAnn was 64 years of age. Born in Summerside, PEI on December 12, 1949, JoAnn was the daughter of Rita Bernard. JoAnn never had a driver’s license but was rarely ever home and loved running the roads and being busy. She was a social butterfly who lived her life for her family and friends. She loved staying connected with people on the computer, sharing and touching people’s lives through using Facebook. JoAnn was the best wife, mother and nannie and enjoyed baking and quilting. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. JoAnn will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 35 years, Urban Allen; her mother, Rita Bernard; her children, Shelley (Darren) Doyle; Jo Lynn Allen (Philip) and Carl (Jennifer) Allen; six grandchildren, Chad and Carlee Doyle, Molly Stright, Daniel Clark, Mia Allen and Lilly Clark; two sisters, Donna and Pame; six brothers, Barrie, Danny, Howie, Ricky, Blake and John, as well as many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. JoAnn was a special nannie to Zachary Stright, Lucan Stright, Jonathan Finnegan and Benjamin Kummer.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-8188). In keeping with JoAnn’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at the East Botsford Recreation Center in Murray Corner, N.B. on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 1 pm with William Drysdale, DLM officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of JoAnn may be made to the New Brunswick Women’s Institute Office Fund, 681 Union Street, Fredericton, N.B. E3A 3N8 or charity of one’s choice. The family wishes to send a sincere thank you to Dr. Sheldon Rubin at the Moncton Hospital, Dr. Lirette at the Dr. Georges L. Little Shemogue, N.B. - Evelyn Lavonia Allen, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 9, 2007.

Born on October 12, 1916 in Bayfield, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Anderson and Sadie (Briggs) Allen.

After growing up in Bayfield, Evelyn spent the remainder of her life in Little Shemogue, N.B. As the wife of a fisherman and sawyer who was often absent from home, Evelyn looked after not only a growing family but also the family farm. An avid quilter and knitter, “Nana” was the mitten and slipper provider to her large extended family.

Evelyn will be sadly missed by her daughter, Sheila Landry (Ulric) of Murray Corner, N.B.; sons, Parker, Urban (Joanne) and Lovitt (Sharon), all of Little Shemogue, N.B. and Bernell of Halifax, N.S.; sister Mary (Allen) Walton of Fredericton, N.B.; daughters-in-law Betty (Duggan) Allen of P.E.I and Miriam (Walton) Allen of Riverview, N.B.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Baxter Allen in 1977; son Stuart Allen in 1989; sister Wanda (Allen) Murray in 1988; brother Alton Allen in 2003; granddaughter Brigette Trenholm in 1967; and great-great-granddaughter Chastity Noonan Allen in 2005.

Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188).

Visitation took place on Tuesday, Dec.11, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bill Drysdale officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in the Fernwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to the charity of ones choice.
