    ALLEN, Eric Matthew - 55, of Amherst passed away at the QE II in Halifax June 18, 1999. He was born in Port Elgin N.B., the son of David and Rhona (nee Scotney) Allen. Eric was a truck driver for34 years. He ran a chimney sweeping company on weekends for 15 years. Tim Horton's for morning meetings with friends was a regular occurrence. Eric was a member and former board member of Crossroads Gospel Temple. He is survived by his wife Linda, (nee Anderson); daughter, Diane, husband Greg McMasters, of Amherst; son, Derrick (Bubbles), of Amherst; brothers, David, wife Anne, of Amherst; Andrew, wife Florence, of Antigonish; Kenneth, wife Mary of Penfield, N.B; sisters, Roberta, of Port Elgin; Naureen (Don) MacDonald, of Amherst; Elizabeth (Jim) Rogers, of Moncton; Mary (Yochem) VanSchuppen, Jolicure N.B.; Eileen (George) Millard, Truro; grandchildren, Matthew, Vanessa, Nicholas McMasters; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by an infant son, Darryl Eric. Arrangements entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst. Visitation today 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service on Tuesday, 2 p.m. at Crossroads Gospel Temple, P.A.O.C., 155 Church St., Amherst with Rev. Ivan Blakney officiating. Interment in the Amherst Cemetery. Reception will beheld in the church hall. Donations in memory of Eric may be made to the Crossroads Gospel Temple Pulpit Fund, QE II Cardio-Vascular Unit or to charity of choice.

    David Charles Allen While surrounded by his family, David Charles Allen, age 94, of the Upper Cape Road, NB, went to his home in Glory on Jan. 22, 2009. Born at home on the Upper Cape Road on November 19, 1914, he was a son of the late Coleman and Minnie (Black) Allen. David is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Rhona (Scotney) Allen. Cherished father of Roberta Allen, Upper Cape Road, Naureen MacDonald, Amherst, David (Anne), Amherst, Elizabeth Rogers (Jim), Berry Mills, Mary Van Schuppen (Yachem), Sackville, Andrew (Florence), Antigonish, Eileen Millard (George), Debert, Kenneth (Mary), Pennfield; daughter-in-law, Linda Allen, Amherst. Beloved by his 36 grandchildren and spouses and 30 great grandchildren. David is predeceased by his daughter in infancy, Darlene, son, Eric, sons-in-law Lloyd Allen and Donald MacDonald, three grandchildren, grandson-in-law, Chad Penny, brothers, Lester, Bliss, Kenneth; sisters, Della Robinson, Margaret Anderson, Bessie Fillmore and Clara Stainthorpe. A lifelong farmer, at age 92, he was "Farmer Of The Year". Throughout his life, he was well known as a carpenter, having been involved in the construction of the Port Elgin Elementary School, Crossroads Gospel Temple and other construction projects in the Maritimes. A founding father of Timber River Pentecostal Church, he was largely responsible for its success in the community and a major contributor to the construction of the facility. A great mentor, church and family man, he will be sadly missed by all. David's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin (506-538-2241) from where visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at 2 pm. Burial in the Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin in the spring. Family flowers only. Donations to the Timber River Pentecostal Church Building Fund, or charity of the donor's choice greatly appreciated. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
