    ROGERS, Frank Lear 'Buck'Born September 24, 1919, in Halifax. Passed away peacefully in his 98th year, on April 7, 2017. Married Leota in Montreal on October 19, 1951. Husband of 53 years to beloved wife, Leota Ruth Rogers (Siddall). Dear, proud father of sons, Brian Lear (Gillian) of Red Deer, Alta.; and Robert Alan (Ruth) of Ottawa, Ont. Cherished grandfather of Emily Carla, Jenna Elizabeth and Tyler Robert. Predeceased by parents, Gertrude Martha Harrop and Albert Lear Godfrey Rogers; his brothers, Charles Fredrick (died as infant) and the late Douglas Albert 'Buddy' Rogers. Enrolled 5th Divisional Royal Canadian Army Corps Active Militia April, 1937. Joined Canadian Army August, 1939; served in Halifax until 1944, where he attained rank of Warrant Officer First Class. Attended Master Gunners Course, Kingston, Ont., and Artillery Master Gunners Course in Halifax in 1944/ 45 and Subalterns Royal Military College Kingston, Ont., August 1955. Commissioned in 1951 and worked at 25 Canadian Ordinance Depot until 1952, when he went to Germany with 27 CIBG Ord. Coy. Returned to AHQ in 1954. Promoted Captain in September, 1956 and served with Royal Canadian Dragoons in Petawawa and Germany. Returned to 27 COD in London, Ont., June 27, 1959. Awarded Canadian Volunteer Service Medal 193945, War Medal 1939-45, NATO Service Medal, Canadian Forces Decoration with One Clasp. Transferred to Canadian Forces Headquarters Ottawa on October 1967, until Honourably Released May 1968, with a worthy contribution of 31 years of service. Retired as Captain RCOC. Joined Department of National Defence in Ottawa, Ont., November 15, 1967. Awarded Order of Fellow Logisticians on November 15, 1984, ADM (Mat) Anvil Lapel Pin. Presented with Silver Medallion on his retirement on September 24, 1984, after 18 years service with DND in Ottawa. Member of Victory Grand Lodge of Quebec No. 94 Free Masons as a Master Mason; received, on October 31, 2001, the 50 year 'Lewis' Jewel. Fondly remembered by relatives and friends in Nova Scotia, Montreal, Red Deer and in Ottawa. A private family graveside service is to take place in Southampton. The family wishes to thank St. Patrick’s Home of Ottawa for their kindness and Alzheimer care.
