But if Charles Melanson's wife (Anne dit) Jeanne Bourg were really Bernard Bourg's daughter, then her son Pierre Melanson would havemarried his first cousin, Marie-Josephe Granger, whose mother was also BernardBourg's daughter(Marie). On the contrary, as the record of the marriage of Pierre Melanson and Marie-Josephe Granger, shows (Port Royal reg. 1 Feb 1746), the mothers of thisMelanson couple were only first cousins. Given that Marguerite Boudrot and Pierre LeBlanc's wife Madeleine Bourg appear among the godparents of Charles Melanson's children, it follows that it was (Anne dit) Jeanne the daughter of Francois Bourg and Marguerite Boudrot who married Charles Melanson. Jeanne Bourg, Bernard's daughter, thus married into the family of Claude Dugas, just as three of her sisters and one of her brothers did.Placide Gaudet apparently drew the same conclusion(Genealogies acadiennes p 655).
