    Norman John Kavalak 1941-2011
    Norman John Kavalak   69 years of  Springhill, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2011 in Colchester  East Hants Health Authority, Truro.  Born in Springhill, he was a son of the Late John and Edna M. (Ryan) Kavalak.
    Norman served several years with the Springhill Fire Department.  While serving with the Department he was elected Fire Chief.  He enjoyed doing carpentry work; spending time at the trailer at Five Islands and at the hunting camp; fishing, his family and friends.
    He will be sadly missed by his wife the former Faye D. Jackson; son, Timothy Kavalak, Springhill; step sons, Danny (Coleen) Tower and Steven (Debbie) Tower, both of Edmonton, Alberta; step daughter, Shelly (Bill) Parsons, Springhill; brother, Tom (Judy) Kavalak, Springhill; sister, Audrey (Dale) McLeod, Bible Hill; step granddaughters, Amber and Rea; step grandsons, Chris & Travis; several nieces and nephews.
    He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Julia Lowthers; brother, Charles.
    Cremation has taken place under the direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361).  Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 8, 2011, from the Funeral Home, with The Reverend Brieanna Andrews officiating.  Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, at a later date.
    If so desired, donations in Norman's memory may be made to a charity of choice.
