Generation: 1

  1. 1.  Madeleine Doiron was born Abt 1714 (daughter of Jean Doiron and Anne LeBlanc); died 15 Nov 1790, Nicolet, Quebec; was buried 16 Nov 1790, Nicolet, Quebec.

    Other Events:

    • Census: 1763, Pennsylvania, USA
    • Residence: Aft 1764, Becancour, Nicolet, Quebec; , settling with her family,

    Notes:

Discrepancy over her parents: Bona gives her parents as Charles Doiron and Francoise Gaudet. S.White gives her parents as Jean Doiron and Anne LeBlanc. White's explanation is that on the 1754-55 census, Joseph, Jean and Pierre Doiron, and Joseph Poirier and Jean (sic for Pierre) Boucher all lived at Aulac. The five families arrived together in South Carolina aboard the Dolphin on November 20th,1755, leading to the conclusion that the wives of Poirier and Boucher were sisters of the Doiron brothers and hence daughters of Jean Doiron and wife, Anne LeBlanc.- note by A.Owen Jan2012

    Census:
She is a widow on this census.

Madeleine married Joseph Poirier Abt 1732, Beaubassin. Joseph (son of Jean Baptiste Poirier and Marie Cormier) was born 1711, Beaubassin. [Group Sheet]

Madeleine married Charles Thibodeau 19 Jul 1764, Philadelphia. Charles (son of Jean Thibodeau and Marguerite Hebert) was born 8 Mar 1711, Grand Pre; died Nov 1779, Becancour; was buried 29 Nov 1779, Becancour. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    Married:
From S. White's English Supplement to the Dictionnaire (p.111): "Paul Doiron was a witness to the marriage ... One may infer that Paul and Madeleine were closely related, and this leads to the conclusion that he was probably her brother ..."

    • Residence: Abt 1692, Pisiguit (today Windsor, Nova Scotia)

    Notes:

There is a discrepancy in research info. as to whether this Jean married twice or his son, Jean, married twice. Bona Arsenault(vol.4, p.1374) indicates that the Jean from France married once to Marie Anne de Cano, but his son, Jean, married twice- once around 1698 to Marie Trahan, d/o Guillaume & Madeleine Brun of Port Royal and secondly around 1710 to Anne LeBlanc, d/o Andre & Marie Dugas. The Doiron book, the descendants of Pierre Doiron & Anne Forest, states that Jean from France married Marie Anne de Cano around 1669 AND Marie Trahan around 1692; and that son, Jean, married Anne LeBlanc in 1693(Jean having been born in 1678). Stephen White's article in Cahier 25 of La Societe Historique Acadienne(page 120) says that Jean Doiron from France married twice and gives the name of his first spouse as Marie Anne Canol, but says he had 19 children. Bona-vol.4,p.1374-b.dt, arrived in Acadia around 1671;lived in the parish of Sainte-Famille in Pisiguit;marr.info. M01-p.45-b&d dts,marr.info. J02-p.120-b.dt;marr.twice but only names one spouse. B22-p.225-gives two marr.;he was at Port Royal with his wife in 1671; he and his family settled at Pisiguit around 1692.
