They renounced their Protestantism at thier marriages in Port Royal. Lamothe-Cadillac's memories, dated 1692, mentions two Scotsmen living in Acadia and whose mother still lived in Boston. The elder sons, Pierre and Charles, had already converted, married French-Catholic women and sterted families. They remained in Acadia. La Mothe-Cadillac relates that in 1685 he saw these two brothers, whom he calls Scotsman, aged 60 and 65 years, who were married to French women. In 'History of the Acadians' by Bona Arsenault, he mentions on page 31 that administration of D'Aulnay's estate was awarded jointly to d'Aulnay's widow and to Germain Doucet dit Laverdure who was a trusted associate of D'Aulnay's at Penobscot.
