    FIELD, LAURA M. - age 98, of Riverview, formerly of Murray Corner, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday, July 12, 2009. Born in Upper Sackville, NB, she was a daughter of the late Alvah and Caroline May (Stokes) (Wheaton) Phinney. Laura attended the Provincial Normal School in Fredericton, attended Mount Allison University and the University of Moncton, completing her Bachelor of Education. A school teacher for over 30 years, Laura taught in Mount View, Murray Corner, Dorchester, Cumberland Bay, Moncton, Riverview and Port Elgin. She was a member of the First United Church, Murray Corner, a charter member of the Murray Corner Women's Institute, a member of the Retired Teacher's Association of Moncton, and for many years a member of the Friends of the Moncton Hospital. Laura will be sadly missed by a daughter, Lillian (Emilien) LeBreton, Neguac, NB and a son Stephen (Nancy) , Riverview; seven grandchildren, Frederick, Peter, Andrew, Jeffery, Lise, Angela and Patrick; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Pratt, Gardner, Mass; sister-in- law Bernice Phinney, Florida and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Frederick "Fred"; brothers Edgar Wheaton, Russell Wheaton, Ellsworth Phinney, and Leslie Phinney; sisters Hattie (Wheaton) McPhee, Margaret Phinney, Annie (Phinney) Estabrooks, Alma (Phinney) Estabrooks, and Hazel (Phinney) Bulmer. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin, NB (506-538-2241) where visitation will take place from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Friday July 17, 2009. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 18 at 2 pm, William Drysdale DLM officiating, from the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin.
