    Obituary

    Elizabeth"Girlie" Sarah McLellan
    1932-2016
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Elizabeth "Girlie" Sarah McLellan, age 83 of Joggins N.S. announce her peaceful passing on Sunday, December 11, 2016 with her loving family by her side at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow N.S.
Mom was born in Joggins on December 19, 1932.  She was the daughter of the late Leo and Isabelle (Brine) Bourgeois. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She worked at Oxford Frozen Foods for many years. Mom was the rock of our family, she held us all together and was our go to person.  Mom and Dad both were angels on earth always there for our whole family. Christmas was Mom's favourite time of the year, and she always made sure everyone had their meat pies and turkey.
Mom greatly enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and would often tell us of life long lessons of the old days growing up on Hardscrabble.  She had a good sense of humour and you would never know what would come out of her. She was always shy until she got to know you then look out.
She enjoyed listening and singing to old country music, drives, family gatherings and working along side dad with whatever project they had on the go.  Everyone also knows she loved her hair being played with which seems to be a family trait.
She will be dearly missed by her loving family, children Brenda (Fred) Henwood, Oxford, N.S., Reggie, Cheryl (Stephen) Mawdsley, Bonnie (Mike) Eagles, Mike (Amanda) and son in law Roy Halfkenny, all of Joggins, N.S.; grandchildren: Wayne,Rodney, Gary, Dawn, Alisha, John, Meghan, Stephanie, Paul, Douglas, Michelle, Shawn, Melissa, Brandon and Daniel; 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; Uncle Bernard (Gloria) Bourgeois, Riverview, N.B., Several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Peg McLellan, daughter Wanda Halfkenny, daughter in law Nancy McLellan; son in law Ricky Cormier, brother Leo "Sonny", sisters in law Greta Melanson, Audrey Taylor, Vera Hunter and Margaret Bourgeois.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, Main Street, River Hebert, 902-667-8777, where visiting hours will be held on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins, NS on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11 am, Father Keith Billard officiating.  Burial will take place in the Parish Cemetery in the spring.
Those wishing to make a donation in Elizabeth's memory may do so to the local charity of your choice.
Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting Elizabeth’s online memorial at www.furlongjones.ca or through the funeral home Facebook Page.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks for the care and work offered by the Nurses, Doctors and staff at Aberdeen Regional Hospital.
After losing the love of her life, moms health went down hill. Mom, we hope you are happily reunited with dad love and miss you both until we meet again, Love you mom.
