    Leonard J. LeBlanc
    1929-2012
    Leonard J LeBlanc, age 82, of Amherst, passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Monday,February 6, 2012 with his loving wife and niece by his side. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Frederick and Melinda (Melanson) LeBlanc. Leonard was a lifelong resident of Amherst. He was employed for forty years at Margolians and was an institution in the Ladies Wear Divison. Leonard was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a faithful member of the St. Charles choir and will be remembered for his fine voice which graced many funeral and marriages over the 70 years he sang in the County area. Over the last three years, He was a frequent inpatient at the Dr. Georges L Dumont Hospital where he also took dialysis 3 days a week with the wonderful help of his drivers Glen White, Jack Leger and Kevin Bayart who always made sure he got there. He was always loud in praising the care and dedication shown him by the Doctors and Nurses there. In addition Leonard and his family thank Dr. K. Bienkowski especially, but all the Doctors and Nurses at the Cumberland Regional. Leonard was a deeply religious man and had many friends in the Priesthood. He especially thanks Father Driscoll for his caring and great sense of humour. He will be dearly missed by his wife Amelia "Millie" and nieces Linda Salter, Mary LeBlanc and Darlene Harrison as well as many numerous nieces and nephews. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was predeceased by sisters Emerice and Kathleen and brothers Frank, Edgar, Fred Jr.,Edward, Arthur, Emile "Fidel", Thomas and Alfred. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St, Amherst (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will take place on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11 am from the Holy Family Parish Church, Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Burial will take place in the St.Charles-Nativity Cemetery in the Spring.Those wishing to make a donation in Leonard's memory may do so to the Holy Family Parish Church Building Fund, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association, or the charity of your choice.
