B22-p.73-Hilaire Arseneau was a very good carpenter and woodworker. He constructed a number of houses and churches, namely those of Barachois, Cap Pele and Menoudie. Marr.info.
    V05-p.75#91and p.41#98-children's marr.info. gives father's occupation as carpenter
P02-p.215,M.1-marr.info;witnesses were Placide Doiron, brother, and both fathers.

    Birth:
Irene Terrio gave his birth year as about 1796. His death certificate gives his age as 70 years in February 1870 which would mean that he was born about 1799.

Hilaire married Anne Doiron 28 Nov 1821, the parish of Barachois, , New Brunswick. Anne (daughter of Pierre Doiron and Anne Marguerite Surette) was born Abt 1796, New Brunswick; died 18 Mar 1903, Joggins, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, Canada. [Group Sheet]

  2. 13.  Anne DoironAnne Doiron was born Abt 1796, New Brunswick (daughter of Pierre Doiron and Anne Marguerite Surette); died 18 Mar 1903, Joggins, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, Canada.

    Notes:

From 'La famille Doiron' by Allen Doiron and Fidele Theriault, on page 73 - Anne was born in spring of 1796, she lived through three centuries, dying in Joggins in March 1903. She was 106 years and some months. In the early 1800's, her father moved with his family to Barachois where she married the 28 Nov 1821 to Hilaire Arsenault, son of Louis and Marguerite Gautreau. The young couple went to settle at Portage de Chimogoui and later moved to Menoudie. They had eight children, six boys and two girls. In 1903, Anne was living at her son's home (Louis' home) at Joggins Mines.

My father, Sherman LeBlanc, said that he was told that she (Anna Doiron) lived to be 105 years old and that she smoked a clay pipe which she would keep in her apron pocket when she wasn't smoking.

    J02-p.123-Anne dite Nanon,b.yr, marr.info,d.dt&loc of Minudie. P02-p.215,M.1-marr.info;witnesses Placide Doiron,brother

    Birth:
Discrepancy re: her birth date. The Doiron book gives her as being born in Saint Anselme, New Brunswick in the spring of about 1796. The 1901 census gives her birth date as December 15th, 1798. The newspaper article in Le Moniteur Acadien of January 1st, 1903 gives her age as 106 and 6 or 7 months which would imply that she was born in late spring of 1796.-note by A.Owen,April2016.

    Census:
On page 22 in family #100 she appears with the family of her son, Lewis. Her age is given as 89 years on the census.

    Census:
On page 13, in family #83, she is aged 103 and living with her son, Louis, and his wife and family.

    Notes:

    Married:
Witnesses at their marriage were Louis Arseneau, father of the groom; Thomas Galant, friend of the groom; Pierre Doiron, father of the bride; and Placide Doiron, brother of the bride. The bride was of minor age and the groom of major age when they married.

Discrepency: Irene Terrio said the marriage was in the Cap Pele Register. The marriage entry for Hilaire and Anne cannot be located in the Cap Pele/Shemogue Parish Register. It is in the Barachois Register, p.215,M.1.,microfilm reel C-3016 at Library Archives Canada.

On Ancestry.com in the Drouin collection, the marriage can be found under the parish of Barachois. And in looking at the beginning of the register for 1800 to 1838, the priest mentions that the register is for the parishes of Barachois, Naboujagan and Didiche. But the image from ancestry is showing the spine of the register with the wording Bouctouche, 1800 a 1838. In looking at the other Barachois registers for later years in the Drouin collection, they all show the spine of the register as Barachois.
